I do love the fat tires , for me the main reason is durability. I weigh in at 210lb and I constantly have to true the rims on my regular mountain bike. So I figured rather than diet  I'll just get a tougher bike.
The grip is excellent to a point as evidenced in the picture. I think I ended up 15ft down the mountain side

My (slightly modified) poor old Merida HFS 1000. Currently I'm looking for full-suspension successor to relieve my old bones.

Took my MTB out today for a spin. Haven't seen much dirt as I kept it nicely on the tarmac :)

Insane how strong and decent those 90s MTB's were. I still have my Cannondale M500 from 1993 that still runs smooth as silk.

    Also new since pic:
Ditched the 3G Racing stem as one of the screw threads is fucked
    Race Face Prodigy Forged stem
Maxxis Maxxlite 330 rear tire (thanks to my LBS NextBikeParts)
Ritchey Comp 620mm bars from a Nishiki Z29 I had in April this year (upgraded to a 710mm wide bar on that bike)

I blatantly copied this from another site btw, couldn't be arsed to re-type it.

Certainly, the Maverick is the only one in the country.

Whoop's I've done it again - 2016 Kona Precept 120. An end of model year bargain (£360 off) and the 7th thing to pedal in my ever increasing stable. Needs some position and suspension adjustments still but a lot of fun

Mavericks are a rare breed in Europe, in America however you do see them much more.

I also had a ML7 in '13 but after a rear shock that died I scrapped it.
